Dress for Success

Yes, it’s an old chestnut, but it’s true. Your attire reflects your social and professional position, like it or not. And, short of wearing formal attire, it’s often better to be a little overdressed than under-dressed for most situations.

In the corporate world, if you’ve worked your way up in the organization, your attire needs to reflect your current status. This is particularly important for your co-workers to see your new position reflected in your attire, demeanor and professionalism.

Here are some tips for the corporate environment:

  • Wear suits – jackets with skirts or pants. Classic cuts and colours will ensure longevity, so stay away from head-to-toe lime green, and stick with black, grey, navy or brown. This stunning Dolce and Gabbana suit is a classic that will stand the test of time and is a great investment piece.

  • Accessorize appropriately. Fashionable accessories are always in style, such as this gorgeous Diane von Furstenberg scarf.

  • Invest in a great handbag. It’s a wonderful accessory statement. My fave designer is Kate Spade since she loves colour and fresh looks. Here’s beautiful bag for the office.

Two last tips: firstly, make sure your style aligns with who you are. It must be authentic. And, secondly, be sure to have a little fun.
