This year saw Radiant Orchid arrive on the scene as the colour of the year, although it really wasn’t embraced by fashion designers, manufacturers, or anyone.
There was rampant agreement that Radiant Orchid is not an easy colour to wear or incorporate into your wardrobe. It made an ok nailpolish colour, but other than that, most people were lukewarm to it.
Marsala, 2015 Colour of the Year
What will be a far easier colour, in my opinion, is the 2015 colour of the year, Marsala. Reminiscent of Oxblood of a few years ago, Marsala is a warm, rich tone that will work well as either a main colour or accent. It also makes a great lipstick and nailpolish shade!
This red-brown tone also works in multiple seasons. It pairs nicely with light turquoise as a spring accent. Marsala works dreamily with pink and red florals for summer. In the fall, Marsala would be great in corduroy or denim in jackets and sweaters. Fall looks will roll nicely into winter’s cozy layers and accessories.
So, designers and brands, over to you. We look forward to enjoying the 2015 colour of the year all year long!
