Three essential handbags every woman should have

I see many women who carry the same black leather handbag year round, to any and every event. While a black shoulder bag is a staple, surely it can’t be the only handbag in your wardrobe.

I know that changing handbags can be a hassle, but it’s worth it since the bag is the finishing piece to your outfit. Your bag – and your shoes – can dress up, or down, any look. I believe you should invest in good quality handbags since they go everywhere with you. Wearing an old, distressed, broken handbag can instantly kill an otherwise lovely outfit.Prada tartan top handle bag

There are many styles and types of handbags. If you are to own just three, here are my top picks.

1. A top-handle bag. This is a daytime classic that looks chic and burberry crossbody bagsophisticated and is certainly suitable for brunch, business or busy days. For fall, I love this Prada handbag in a distressed tartan.

2. The cross-body bag. This is a great travel bag – sling it across your shouldLouboutin clutchers and leave your hands free to shop at the market – or hold a mojito. This putty coloured Burberry bag suits many seasons.

3. The clutch. A must for evening events, the sleek clutch signifies elegance at its best. It makes the perfect accessory when the focus is on your dress – not too big, not too obtrusive. I have long coveted this Christian Louboutin clutch for evening.

As for colour, lately I’ve been moving away from black for daytime and embracing the rich warmth of colour: sultry browns, neutral taupes, sassy pinks or ruby reds. When planning your next handbag purchase, think about the dominant colours in your wardrobe and see if there is an opportunity to coordinate your looks with a fresh coloured handbag.
