Girls’ Day Out

Girls' Day OutLet’s go shopping!

Style on Purpose is now offering Shopping Tours, starting with an October 4 excursion to Calgary’s Chinook Centre, which is home to many luxury labels and, as of September 19th, will house Canada’s first Nordstrom store.

The idea is to offer a fun ‘Girls’ Day Out’ experience, taking away the stress of driving to Calgary and provide a great experience both on board and at the Centre.

Girls’ Day Out includes luxury coach transportation from central Edmonton directly to Chinook Centre in Calgary. On board, guests will enjoy light refreshments and an exclusive personal style workshop, including body type assessments, styling tips and chic ways to coordinate outfits. Guests will receive exclusive swag, too. The return trip and shopping tour, which is completed all in the same day, is just $190, plus GST.

Here are the detals:

  • Luxury limo bus departs central Edmonton at 8:30 am., Expected arrival at Chinook Centre is noon.
  • All guests must be back at the limo bus by 4:00 pm for the return trip to Edmonton. Expected return to central Edmonton is 7:30 pm.
  • Includes: light morning refreshments on board the limo bus, Style on Purpose shopping bag and exclusive swag, including a Style on Purpose coffee mug, personal style workshop enroute to Calgary (workshop retail value $149 per person)
  • Additional services are available, too, including: personal shopping and style consultations, at $30 per hour, and Colour Season Swatch wallet, at $40 each

A comparable trip to Calgary, if someone arranged it themselves, is about $180 in a combination of bus fare and taxi charges from downtown Calgary to Chinook Centre and back. Here we’re offering a fun experience for groups of friends or family to enjoy a mini-vacation – and some great shopping, too.

Future trips are planned for November and December to take advantage of Christmas shopping sales.

Here’s the key: only 22 tickets are available, so book today by clicking HERE. More details are in the tab above called Girls’ Day Out Shopping Tours and More.

What could be more fun! I hope to see you on October 4.

Nordstrom loves Calgary

I had the opportunity to zip down to Calgary to attend the Nordstrom VIP Stampede Social on July 2 and was warmly greeted by the event hosts.

custom coasters at the event, nice branding

The purpose of the evening was to bring together social media influencers to celebrate the start of Calgary’s biggest outdoor show – the Stampede. For me, however, it illustrated how genuinely Nordstrom is embracing its first Canadian home. For its grand opening (more on that, below) Nordstrom is holding a Gala event in support of Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation and the United Way of Calgary and Area. That event sold out quickly – and the store’s not even open yet.

During the evening I had a chance to meet store manager Shelia Wooldridge, such a warm and inspiring person. She’s been with Nordstrom for many years and is eager to begin her post in Calgary.

“We just arrived in Calgary and we’re excited to experience everything the city has to offer – starting with this fabulous, fun-filled week of Stampede! I’m also looking forward to working with and developing a great team of people who are committed to bringing our Nordstrom service of culture alive in Calgary,” said Shelia.

She is, I believe, entirely reflective of the sincerity and genuineness of the Nordstrom brand. It’s isn’t just the stuff of legends; it is in fact how Nordstrom employees conduct themselves. And that’s what makes shopping at Nordstrom such a treat.

I’m told that all the Calgary store management team members are in place and hiring is underway for more than 400 positions. (If you’re interested, here’s a link http://about.nordstrom.com/careers/?origin=footer#/international-careers/canada)

If you’re as excited as I am about the store’s opening on September 19, here is the scoop on grand opening activities:

  • On Friday, September 19 from 7:30-9:30 be sure to queue up before the doors open. Nordstrom beauty experts will provide demonstrations and consultations to those in line.
  • At 9:30, Nordstrom opens the doors to its first Canadian store. You won’t want to miss it!

Watch for future posts on Nordstrom’s progress and exciting news to come.

NOTE: I paid all my own expenses for this trip.
